Rosemarie Gould Obituary

Mrs. Rosemarie Gould, 89, of Pittsfield, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on September 4, 1933, the youngest daughter of the late Gregory and Giovanna Stratotti Mosca, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1951.

In her earlier career, Rosemarie was employed by the Berkshire Eagle, where she worked in circulation. As family was always her top priority, Rosemarie left her job at the Eagle to focus on raising her seven children, making sure that every part of their lives was filled with love, support and a home cooked meal. When her children were older, Rosemarie began working for insurance billing for Dr. Fabrizio, Dr. Trinh, and later Dr. Edwards, from where she retired.

Anyone who knew Rosemarie would say that spending time with family and friends was the central focus of her life! From holiday celebrations to dinner with the "picnic group", the house was always filled with lots of laughter, dancing and joke telling. And she never missed an occasion to send a card to tell you how much you meant to her! She was a phenomenal cook and baker, and her recipe book that she gave all of the children and grandchildren will be treasured forever.

Along with cooking, Rosemarie spent time in her earlier years sewing and in her later years, as an avid reader. She participated in the Seattle Summer Book bingo 4 years in a row and last year, she got "3 blackouts and a bingo"! She liked that it challenged and educated her and was also a way to further connect with her daughters and granddaughters. Rosemarie enjoyed being out in the public and always found the time to volunteer with the RSVP, the Barrington Stage Co., the Berkshire Theater Group, and St Charles and St Mary's churches for many years.

Rosemarie was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 53 years, Paul E. Gould, whom she married on July 30, 1955. She was also predeceased by her sisters - Maria Pasquini, Concetta Venturini and Katherine Magri; her brothers - Dominic, Samuel, Gregory, Peter and Thomas; and her son-in-law, Thomas Laureyns.

She is survived by her "seven wonders": Christine Gould (Seattle, WA), Paul Gould, Jr, and wife, Amber (Vancouver, WA), Lisa Thornton and husband, Raymond (Howie in the Hills, FL), Perry Gould and wife, Brenda (Pocasset, MA), John Gould and wife, Pamela (Windermere, FL), Maryanne Laureyns (Pittsfield, MA), and Christopher Gould, and wife Kelly (Bloomfield Hills, MI). In addition, she is survived by sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of which she equally adored! She leaves behind her sister-in-laws Jeanne Mosca of Lee and Elia Patella of Lenox, along with many nieces and nephews.

Many may not remember the "famous" song by the Flying Machine, but anyone who knew Rosemarie, would think that the song was written for her. When we hear "Smile a little smile for me, Rosemarie", we know that she is smiling down on all of us, along with her husband, Paul, dancing arm in arm, from their final resting place in Heaven.

The family would also like to thank the dedicated nurses and aides from HospiceCare in the Berkshires (Tricia, Lion, Linda and the rest of the staff) for their amazing and compassionate care of Rosemarie in her final months

To all the members of the Gould Family:

In life, you don´t get to pick your relatives or family, and if you could the world may be full of a lot of orphans. I was lucky to meet my best friend´s family and his mother Rosemarie who added me to her four sons and never forgot my birthday or a Christmas card signing them "Love your adopted mother" showing me all the love and respect she gave her "seven wonders". I was truly blessed to become a member of Rosemarie´s extended "family" and not an orphan. Rest in peace Rosemarie your job on earth is done and you have left this world a better place for all of us to follow your examples of loving, and caring for all you come in contact with, and doing it with a smile.
