Susan Pullaro Obituary

Susan Louise (Barnes) Pullaro, passed away peacefully at her home in Florida on June 4, 2023.

She was a longtime resident of the Berkshires, and always loved the ocean. She retired to her dream home in Florida with her adoring husband, Jim, and their rescue chihuahua, Essie.

She was born on March 12, 1949, in Pittsfield, MA to Orville Henry Barnes Jr, and Hope Anne Johnson, the second of 4 siblings and the oldest daughter.

Sue graduated from Searles High school in 1967 and went on to get her R.N. degree from Berkshire Community College. She also attended classes at Westfield State and was invited to join the Honor Society for her academic excellence.

She had an endless ability to nurture and care for others, and spent the majority of her professional career as a R.N. with Berkshire Medical Center. She was also a private care nurse to her mother, father, stepmother Barbara, and Aunt Barbara Clary as well as many others that needed her help over the years.

Sue lived a fun and fruitful life, always planning another adventure with her sisters, her family, and her friends. She loved being outdoors, camping, swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and thrifting. She visited the island of St. John several times to play with her cousin Dianne Johnson.

In addition to all of her adventures, she and her husband owned and operated the Log Cabin Restaurant in Lenox, where her son David got his start as a chef.

She was an active part of an annual cousin's day event with her family, never losing touch with her relatives. It is a day of laughter and joy that everyone looks forward to every year.

Sue was able to take her dream trip with Jim to Paris and Italy, accompanied by her lifelong best friend Tracy Knapp Cabanis and husband Francois.

Sue will be deeply missed by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jim Nicholas Pullaro, her 2 children, David Michael Barnes Pullaro of Great Barrington, and Amelia Jay Pullaro of Pittsfield, as well as her 2 favorite sisters, Rebecca J. Namislo of Stockbridge, and Sarah G. Formel of New Marlborough, and her big brother Bruce F. Barnes, of Brooksville, FL.

She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Tylor, Shayla, and Leahsey, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life for Susan Pullaro will be announced in the future.
