Theodore Oparowski Obituary

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father and grandfather, Mr. Theodore S. Oparowski, 95, of Adams, the heart and soul of our family, who died Thursday morning, September 18, 2025, at his home with family by his side. He was born in Adams on November 13, 1929, a son of the late Tytus and Mary (Kogut) Oparowski and attended Adams schools. Ted was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 until his Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant in 1952. Ted last worked for Pfizer, Inc. in Adams until his retirement. Earlier, he had worked at the former Arnold Print Works in Adams until its closing. Raised on the family farm on East Road in Adams, Ted proudly worked as a farmer from a young age, helping with the family apple orchards and later co-owning the farm alongside his beloved wife and brothers. He spent several years bartending at Shorty's Café in Adams and the Balance Rock Café in Lanesboro, both owned by his brothers. He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Adams. Ted was a man of many interests. He enjoyed playing cards, trips to the casinos, mushrooming, cooking, and gardening. But above all, family was most important to him. Nothing brought him greater pride and joy than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their many celebrations, performances, and sporting events over the years. He was a selfless man whose love for his family knew no bounds. He would do anything for those he loved. His strength, unwavering support, and devotion to his family will be cherished always. His absence leaves a space no one can fill. He was happily married for 50 years to his wife, the former Jeannette M. Lingoski, whom he married on February 23, 1952. She died on June 1, 2002. He is survived by his three daughters: Diane Donovan of North Adams; Desiree LaPerle and her husband, Bruce, of Cheshire; and Rosanne Juno of Adams; and by two sons: Theodore Oparowski II and his wife, Beth, of New London, NH; and Paul Oparowski of Adams. He also leaves 11 grandchildren: Jesse Hakes, Charlotte Christopher, Olivia Moran, Ember Oparowski, Paul Oparowski, Jr., Ashley Juno, Christopher Donovan, Carleigh Oparowski, Theodore Oparowski III, Ryan Donovan, and Hannah LaPerle; and 15 great grandchildren: William, Tyler, Tessa, Ellianna, Autumn, Quentin, Grayson, Camryn, Sage, Ethan, Gavin, Vienna, Brooks, River, and Sophia. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Oparowski, and two grandsons, George Juno, Jr. and Ross Oparowski. The last of his immediate family, he was predeceased by brothers: John, Casimer, Peter, Stanley, Walter, Joseph, Frank, and Matthew Oparowski; and his sisters Emilia Oparowski, Anna Keeler, Sophie Rusek, Cecelia Laston, and Helen Fox. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 26th at 11:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams. A calling hour will be held IN THE CHURCH on Friday from 10:00 AM until the Liturgy at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis TN 38105. The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
