Wilfred H. Roberts

1930 - 2026

Mr. Wilfred H. Roberts, 95, of Dalton, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Born in Pittsfield, MA, on August 22, 1930, son of the late Moses and Annie Streeter Roberts, he graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1948.

Shortly following high school, Wilfred was drafted to the United States Army, where he served his country until his honorable discharge.

For the majority of his career, Wilfred was employed by Williams Plumbing, where he worked as a plumber. It was from there that he retired in 1992 after 42 years of dedicated service.

Among many things, he enjoyed playing the violin, collecting antiques, contradancing, and going on walks.

Wilfred was predeceased by his beloved wife of 51 years, the former Shirley F. Williams, whom he married on May 12, 1951. Shirely passed on October 9, 2002. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Pero, who passed away in February of 2009.

Wilfred leaves behind his daughter, Judy Dewey (Frank), his son-in-law, James Pero, and his three grandchildren, Laurie Cantarella (Antony), Joseph Dewey and Jennifer Dewey. Wilfred is also survived by his great grandchildren, Sophia, Makayla, and Layla Cantarella, as well as his nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.

Funeral Notice:

Funeral services for Wilfred will be Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 1:30pm at the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home in Dalton, 525 Main Street, Dalton MA 01226. Burial will follow at Ashuelot Cemetery. There will be an hour of visitation at the funeral home directly prior to the service, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilfred's memory can be made to Dalton Ambulance, in care of the Dwyer-Wellington Funeral Home.
