COLERAIN - Deborah "Debbie" Norrell Rawls passed away October 13, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Debbie was the beloved wife of Chester "Keith" Rawls, with whom she shared 55 wonderful years. He was the light of her life, and their love never wavered. Debbie was a nurturer in every sense of the word. After earning her nursing degree from the NCSU Rex School of Nursing, she dedicated her life to caring for others. Friends and family knew they could call on Debbie for anything. Faith was a constant presence in Debbie's life. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie, where she found fellowship and strength. She was also active in the Ahoskie Garden Club, sharing her love of beauty and nature. Above all, Debbie's greatest joy was her family. She was the proud mother of Sherri Burgess (Stephen) and Kristy Overton (Russ) and adored by her grandchildren-Boyd, (Alex), Reid, Andy, Mackenzie, Kate, and Elise -who affectionately called her "DeeDee." No matter the distance or hour they knew "DeeDee" was there for them. In later years, Debbie developed a passion for painting and cherished time spent with her "painting crew." When she wasn't painting, Debbie could be found in the kitchen preparing delicious favorites for her loved ones. She had a true gift for making everyone feel welcome and at home. Debbie is also survived by her brother, James Norrell and sister, Laurie Kraniak as well as extended family. Her life was a testament to kindness, faith, and resilience-and she will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at First Baptist Church of Ahoskie at 2:00 pm.
