Darwin Egloff Obituary

Darwin Egloff
Sears, Michigan
01/22/1948 - 05/06/2025
Darwin Egloff, 77, of Sears, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, surrounded by family. Born on January 22, 1948, in Detroit to Chester Wayne and Geraldine (Gregory) Egloff, Darwin moved to Evart at a young age and graduated from Evart High School in 1966, ranking third in his class.
As a teenager, Darwin delivered newspapers in the Evart area, developing a strong work ethic early in life. He went on to attend Ferris State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education in 1970. Darwin married the love of his life, Lorraine "Kaye" Ruppert, in September 1968. They began their life together in Ubly, Michigan, where Darwin taught for three years before returning to Evart in 1973.
Darwin dedicated his career to education, teaching high school math in Evart until his retirement in 2006. He was deeply committed to his students and passionate about the value of learning.
In addition to his teaching career, Darwin also worked for a time as night manager at Orton's IGA in Evart, where he enjoyed connecting with people in the community and supporting his family.
Outside the classroom, Darwin was a man of the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He was also a faithful member of the Sears Church of God, where he nurtured his faith and community connections. Darwin lived for God and loved his family dearly-his faith and devotion were evident in every part of his life.
Darwin was a proud father to two children, born in 1977 and 1978, and found great joy in his role as a grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of over 56 years, Kaye; son, Steven (Sara) Egloff of Alma; daughter, Andrea Hentschel of Roscommon; grandchildren, Robyn, Alex, and Isaiah Hentschel, and Ava and Elijah Egloff; and a niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Geraldine Egloff; and his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Charles Bowman.
A private family service will take place, and Darwin will be laid to rest at Orient Township Cemetery.
Darwin's legacy of kindness, faith, and love for his family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
