Duane Ranshaw Obituary

Duane Ranshaw
11/14/1933 - 10/31/2024
Duane A. Ranshaw, 90, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, October 31, 2024. He was born on November 14, 1933, in Barryton, Michigan, to Gerald and Helen (Shank) Ranshaw. On April 5, 1957, Duane married Martha Kelly in Jacksonville, Mississippi, beginning a lifelong partnership until her passing in 2018. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Duane served during the Korean War. Later he spent over 30 years working as an electrician for General Motors Oldsmobile, remaining active in side jobs even after retirement.
Duane was a man with a deep love for the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, and hiking. His adventures led him to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where he even hiked the Great Northern Trail from one side to the other, a testament to his enduring love for long walks and the peacefulness of nature. Recently, he even fulfilled a lifelong dream of skydiving, sharing his accomplishment proudly with family. When he wasn't exploring the outdoors, Duane enjoyed watching Michigan State Spartans basketball and Detroit Tigers baseball.
He will be remembered dearly by his friends and family for his adventurous spirit and dedication. Duane leaves behind his daughter, Nancy (Curt) Copelin, and her children: Andrew (Lindzey), Jason (Mariah), and Ashley; his daughter-in-law, Richelle Ranshaw, and her children: Violet (Steve), Larry II, and Tonya; and his great-grandchildren: Quincy, Camyla, Leigha, Knox, Gracie, Wyatt, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha; his daughter, Margie; his sons, Mark and Larry; and his siblings, William, Ronald, Eloise, Lowell, and Gary.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Daggett Funeral Home in Barryton, with visitation from 12:00 noon until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barryton Rod and Gun Club. To leave a memory or share a condolence, please visit www.daggettgilbertfuneralhome.com.
