Garth Erbes Obituary

Garth ""Bill"" Erbes
04/06/1957 - 12/12/2024
Garth "Bill" Erbes, age 67, of Reed City, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 12, 2024. He was born on April 6, 1957, in Reed City, Michigan, the son of Garth O. Erbes and Leona (Knoop) Reichow.
Bill graduated from Reed City High School in the Class of 1975. On October 20, 1979, he married the love of his life, Sherry Moore, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished family memories.
Bill worked as a wireline technician specializing in well maintenance and drilling, retiring from TransCanada after 40 years of devoted service. Bill's life and career was filled with relationships founded by his integrity, strength and good nature. If you knew Bill, you understand that you could without a shadow of doubt count on him to be there. Bill was a foundation for his family and all the relationships he made along his journey of life as he was a pillar of strength to all.
Bill grew up in a Rodeo family, his early life revolved around Cowboying and Rodeo production. Later he shifted his focus to raising his family and teaching his children core values through his incredible strength and leadership.
Bill's family was the center of his world, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was also very passionate about his cattle herd and graciously utilized the values of farming and John Wayne to mold a life filled with cherished memories.
After retirement, Bill's resounding work ethic found him every Monday at the Clare Livestock Auction where he fortified his unselfish nature and willingness to help a lending hand. To his family and many others he was the very best Husband, Dad, Papa and Cowboy that everyone looked up to. In his reassuring words, "It will be alright" will forever resonate in their hearts.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Erbes; children, Justin (Carrie) Erbes, Jenna (Ryan) Bull, and Jade (Doug) Dailey; grandchildren, Elly, Easton, Preslee, Cutler, Wesley, and Willow; mother, Leona Reichow; mother-in-law, Pat Moore; stepmother, Rita Erbes; siblings, Susan Hart, Rick (Robin) Erbes, Cathy (Joe) Johnston, and Huck Erffmeyer; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garth O. Erbes; father-in-law, Bob Moore; and stepfather, Oliver Reichow.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 3 p.m. at the Reed City Church of the Nazarene, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A full wonderful meal will follow the service.
