MECOSTA - Hazel Ella (Dennis) Howe, 82, of Mecosta, passed away peacefully Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, at her home with family at her side.
Hazel was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Beaverton, the daughter of Linton James and Lillie Mae (Caryl) Dennis. She was raised in Gladwin and Mecosta area and graduated from Mecosta High School in 1953. Hazel married Gordon Henry Howe on June 25, 1955, in Livonia. Hazel was employed by General Tire and by the auto industry for 10-plus years. She enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Hazel will be missed by one son, Dennis Howe, of Mecosta; grandchildren, Darcie Howe, of Mecosta, Dennis (Sarah) Howe II, Amanda (Dennis) Reid, of Barryton, Stephanie Sims (Ryan Rogers), of Sheridan, Stacy Svok (Destini White), of Lansing, and Sandy Svok, of Mount Pleasant; brother, Gerry Dennis, of Remus; brother-in-law, Howard Colley, of Lyons; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Howe, on Aug. 26, 1988; one daughter, Denise Howe, on June 29, 2006; parents, Linton and Lillie Dennis; sisters, Barbara Colley and Florena Maroulis; and her infant brother, Leroy.
Funeral services for Hazel will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, with the family accepting friends from noon until the start of the service at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview. A luncheon will follow the funeral in the Brigham Banquet Room.
