Jason Francis Fitzgerald, 41, of Big Rapids, passed away Monday, June 2, 2025. Jason will be remembered for his big heart and kind soul. He truly loved every family member and his many friends.
His second love was cooking! His great dishes will be missed. Whether it was a simple weeknight meal or a holiday feast, Jason poured his heart into every dish. For him, cooking was more than a task - it was a form of love, a creative outlet and a way to nourish everyone's body and soul. He said many times that the kitchen was his happy place.
Jason is survived by his parents, Steve and Karen Fitzgerald, and Keith and Becky Cook; grandparents, Shirley Fitzgerald, and Ed and Lorna Retzloff; his siblings, Aaron Fitzgerald (Kelli ), Trevor Fitzgerald (Sarah ), Don MacGregor, James MacGregor (Kasey), Steven MacGregor, Karyn Horan (Danny), and Patrick MacGregor (Maralee); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by grandfathers Frank Fitzgerald and David Cook, grandmother Carolyn Cook, brother Cody Cook, and very close friend (ex-wife) Amanda Fitzgerald.
There will be a Celebration of Life potluck for Jason on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 1-4pm at Barton Township Hall, 7860 E. 17 Mile Rd., Reed City, Mi, 49677. Share a memory or express condolences at mohnkefuneralhome.com.

I worked with Jason at Leprino Foods. I am so sorry for your loss, Jason was a one of a kind sweetheart, he worked 2nd and I work 1st yet couldn't wait to see his smile and get one of his great hugs. My last conversation with him was on Mother's Day and he relayed that he had a job he loved. Jason was a great person, I am blessed to call him a friend. Sending prayers to all of you.
