Jeffry Kettel Obituary

Jeffry Kettel
Barryton, MI
February 2, 2023
"If you don't have time to do it right, how are you going to have time to do it again?" and "You only need to brush the teeth you want to keep" are two sayings we will never forget. Our father, Jeff Kettel, was full of charisma, a quick whit and a whole lot of character. He passed in peace on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant surrounded by loved ones.
Jeffry Peter Kettel, was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan, on October 4, 1956, to Jerome and Maxine (Peavy) Kettel. He graduated from Chippewa Hills High School in 1974 and spent several years working as a mechanic. When he was younger he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jeff loved old westerns, going to watch dirt track car races, sprint cars and had a plethora of knowledge regarding JFK. He was a woodworker and bit of a card shark, especially when it came to Pedro and Euchre.
Jeff loved get togethers, reunions and being with his family. He loved taking road trips with his, then wife, Diane. He was a man of his word who could find the solution to any problem. He owned and operated Jeff's Service of Barryton for 20 years. He also volunteered on the Barryton Fire Department for 20 years, where he took charge of the "Fill The Boot" for MDA.
With a heavenly body, Jeff can now feed the squirrels and birds pain free. A special thanks goes out to the staff at Woodland Hospice for effortlessly making him comfortable and enjoying his unique sense of humor.
Jeff is survived by: two children, Mandy (JD) Kelley and Corey Kettel both of a Barryton; grandchildren, Connor Kelley and Zoey Fugit; siblings, Wayne "Tony" (Jennifer) Kettel of Crossville, TN, Mark Kettel of Saginaw, Dianne Stiles of Barryton, Linda (Clyde) Antcliff of Remus, Robin Heatherington of Lakeview and Vicki (Jack) Ulrich of Barryton; sister-in-law Betty Kettel & numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is now reunited with his parents, brothers, Larry and Daniel and brother in law, Clark Stiles.
Memorials in Jeff's name can be made to Muscular Dystrophy Association. In lieu of services, share with us on Jeff's page, online at the Corey Funeral Home in Evart's website, coreyfuneralhome.com

It is so wonderful to still hear the laughter coming from Heaven. We were pretty sure God and his Angels would enjoy Jeffro's sense of humor; and by the sound of laughter, we were right. Hey Jeffro, keep up the good work!! We sure do miss you but we are so glad every one in Heaven is enjoying your wittiness.

Well, it has been over a year since Jeffro was called Home and we can still hear the laughter coming from the Heavens. So grand knowing every Angel is enjoying Jeffro's witty sense of humor. We sure do miss him!

As I heard the news of your passing I was still looking for a new Desert Storm Flag for your front lawn flagpole.
Lunch with Jeff during the Summer of 2016 while I was in MI taking care of my dad (and his swimming pool) our conversation drifted back to our younger years, swimming in the rock quary and picking off those nasty leaches.
Jeff's smile, sharp wit, and caring along with all of our text messages will surely be missed.
To Jeff's Family, I pray that we will all meet again in Heaven. My most sincere condolences.

Gee Jeffry (Jeffro), we will certainly see you again. Thank God!! God and all His Angels must be in stitches since your arrival Home. While you were here, you always were so witty and wise and full of smiles. We will miss you!! Heaven has gained a great Angel while we have lost one of the best. RIP, until we meet again.
