Madelon Abbott Obituary

Madelon Tracy Abbott
07/19/1950 - 09/10/2025
Madelon Tracy Abbott (Née Lewis) passed away peacefully at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids on September 10, 2025.
Born in Traverse City in 1950, Madelon graduated from Traverse City High School in 1968 and went on to earn her LPN nursing license from Northwestern Michigan College in 1972. An avid and skilled downhill skier, she and two friends set out for the Rocky Mountains after graduation, combining their love for the slopes with their new nursing careers. She spent several adventurous years working in hospitals across ski towns while pursuing her passion for skiing.
Upon returning to Traverse City, Madelon met her future husband, John Abbott, then a cadet at the Great Lakes Maritime Academy. The two were married in Traverse City in 1982. Their early years were spent moving around the country before they eventually settled in Mecosta County, Michigan, in 1991, where they have lived ever since.
Never one to stop learning, Madelon earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from Ferris State University in 1996. She went on to work in the rehabilitation center at Big Rapids Hospital, where she was dedicated to her patients until her retirement.
Madelon was the daughter of Tracy and Madeline Lewis of Traverse City. She is survived by her loving husband, John Abbott of Canadian Lakes, Michigan; her sister, Curlista Lewis of Lansing; and her nieces, Jennifer Duddles of Lansing and Mary Duddles of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to God's Helping Hands in Remus. No services have been scheduled at this time.
