Virginia Polhamus Obituary

Virginia Pearl Cline Polhamus
Big Rapids, Michigan
10/10/1928 - 11/03/2024
Virginia Cline Polhamus, age 96, of Big Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024. Born on October 10, 1928, to Albert and Doris (Allison) Allers, Virginia lived a life marked by resilience, warmth, and dedication.
In 1946, Virginia married her first love, John Cline, and they shared many cherished years together until his passing in 1991. In 1993, she found companionship again and married Eugene Polhamus, who also preceded her in death. Virginia's life was one of hard work and devotion, having spent her early career at Denham's in Big Rapids before joining Wolverine, where she worked diligently until her retirement at the age of 63.
Virginia was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Big Rapids and exemplified the spirit of her generation, having lived through the trials of the Great Depression. A gifted baker, she took pride in preparing delicious baked goods and canning food for her family, a skill lovingly taught to her by her mother-in-law. Virginia was known for her strong will and fierce love, qualities that made her a tough but beloved mother and an adored grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Doris Allers; her first and second husbands, John Cline and Eugene Polhamus; and numerous siblings. Virginia's legacy lives on through her children, Patricia (Fred) Fuller, Michael (Sherry) Cline, Colin (Roberta) Cline, and Mark (Tammy) Cline; her surviving siblings, Maxine Smith, Dale Allers, and Gordon Allers; her six grandchildren; and countless great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory.
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service celebrating Virginia's life on Friday, November 8th, at 11:00 a.m. at Mohnke Janowicz Funeral Home in Big Rapids, with Pastor Devon Harrell officiating. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A private burial will follow at Davenport Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Virginia's memory are encouraged to contribute to a charity of their choice.
