David Robertson Obituary

David Hearne Robertson died on March 2, 2023, at 89 years old as a result of complications from a fall that occurred while on a walk in his neighborhood.
David was born on June 28, 1933, in McAllen, Texas ("in the same hospital where Tom Landry was born"). After growing up and graduating from high school in Weslaco, Texas, David graduated from Southwestern University in 1955, where he was an active member of Phi Delta Theta and sang in the Southwestern Choir. In 1959, he graduated from Southern Methodist University School of Divinity. Also in 1959, David met a pretty woman at a square dance in Corpus Christi named Margie McCleskey. They were married on August 14, 1959, when they began over 63 years of married partnership.
David was ordained as a minister in the Methodist Church and served Methodist and United Methodist congregations in Agua Dulce; Hebbronville; Lytle; Kingsville; Amarillo; Kansas City, Missouri (where he earned another divinity degree from St. Paul School of Divinity); Lubbock; Snyder; Levelland; Artesia, N.M.; Big Spring; and Lubbock (again).
David and Margie have three children, Perry (Kelly), Mark (Derek), and Lynne (Mark); and two grandchildren, Emilye and Elliot Webb.
Over their 63 years of marriage, David and Margie travelled throughout the United States, most often driving and pulling a camper trailer. David loved playing games (particularly dominoes), spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, singing in his church choir, and volunteering.
A Memorial Service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Richardson, Texas. The date of the memorial service is pending. Information will be posted at charleswsmithandsonsfuneralhome.com.

Margie and family, I´m so sorry to hear of David passing. He was like a father to me for many years. I could share so many memories. Golfing with him and my dad and Herb, watching the gang play dominoes and him and mom getting after each other competitively, I even have a few of his crosses he loved carving, some I acquired upon mom and dad´s deaths and some I got as a gift. He always would say to me when I asked him how he was doing " well I looked in the obits and Im not in it so must be doing good. " But we know he´s doing good he's up there with mom and dad and Lou Ann and Willie playing bones. I loved David. He will be missed on this earth and the hole in our hearts is how big we loved him, but we Will see him again. Hugs to all.
Blessings and my love,
Diana Gilmore Albers and John and kids
