Dorothy Shanks Obituary
Pallbearers for the service will be grandsons JP Shanks, Jimmy Shanks Jr., Timothy Shanks, Dusty Shanks, Lance Murphy, Daniel Clark, and Clark Fields. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ian Paredez Murphy, Mason Clark, Nolen Murphy, Michael Shanks, James Carter, Bjorn Carter and Knox Carter.
Dorothy was born July 6, 1931 in Lubbock, Texas to Gertrude Edna Montgomery and Lewis Christian. She had been a resident of Big Spring since 1940. She married Harold Wade Shanks October 25, 1952 in Big Spring. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church. Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano, board games, gardening and playing miniature golf.
She is survived by three sons: Donnie Shanks and wife Sharon, Larry Shanks and wife Sheila and Jimmy Shanks, Sr. and wife Sandy and one daughter: Shirley Murphy and husband Kevin; five grandsons: JP Wade Shanks and wife Angela, Jimmy Shanks, Jr. and wife Angela, Timothy Shanks and wife Cecilia, Dusty Shanks, Lance Murphy and wife Amber; three granddaughters: Dr. Melissa Fields and husband Clark, LaTisha Shanks, Mandy Clark and husband Daniel; fourteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson Michael Don Shanks and one brother and one sister.
