Jake Glickman Obituary
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2015, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Jake was born April 22, 1943, in Big Spring to Oscar and Bobbie Peach Glickman. He married Vivian Dickson Bartoo Nov. 15, 1999, in Big Spring.
Jake was a social worker in the adolescent department at the Big Spring State Hospital and also had a private practice. Jake always worked at the Record Shop and took over after his father passed away.
Jake is survived by his wife, Vivian Glickman of Big Spring; one daughter, Melanie Mikuta and husband, Tom of Plainfield, Ill.; a step-son, Cary Bartoo and wife, Tracy of McKinney; a step-daughter, Stacy Harrington and husband, Verlin of Big Spring; two brothers, Julius Glickman and wife, Susan of Houston and Kenneth Peach of Tacoma, Wash.; and a sister, Martha Bres and husband, Carlos of Eagle Pass. He was also known as "Papa Jake" and "Baboo" to his 12 grandchildren and great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Margo Glickman Johnson; a grandson, Robert James Johnson; and a sister- in- law, Ruth Peach.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Big Spring State Hospital Volunteer Services, 1901 N. Hwy. 87, Big Spring, Texas 79720.

Jake was a heck of a guy been in his shop many times and talk to him at the gun shows. I'm so very sorry to hear of his passing. Lost my wife two years ago so my heart goes out to his wife Vivian . May peace be with you

I knew Jake from the Record Shop and the many Gun Shows here in the Permian Basin. We traded Militaria for many years. I never knew a man who knew more about Militaria than Jake. I will miss him very much. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Jake was a great man. Melanie, his daughter, and I have been friends for years, since childhood. I grew up in Big Spring and Mr. Glickman, as I knew him, was truly a unique individual. One of the smartest people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with Melanie and all the family at this time.
