Jayne Mansfield Obituary

Jayne Mansfield, 67, of Big Spring finished her Earthly race on Monday, April 1, 2024. Visitation will be 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM Thursday with family receiving friends from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:30 PM Friday at Midway Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Seay officiating followed by burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
Jayne was born on June 29, 1956 in Memphis, TX to Dannabel McRae Meacham & Charles "Chuck" Meacham. She was a lifetime resident of Howard County and a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Benny Mansfield, on August 30, 1974.
Jayne graduated from Coahoma High School in 1974 and later in life from Howard College. At the age of 50, she reached her goal and obtained her Bachelor's from Lubbock Christian University. She spent the majority of her professional career at Howard College where she retired in 2016 as the Director of Student Services. She had a servant's heart and loved her students. She enjoyed serving homecooked meals to the various groups through Mom's Kitchen to You and supporting their events. She opened her home to any students who had nowhere else to go, especially during the holidays.
Jayne was a bright light to all who knew and met her. With a contagious smile, an unmistakable laugh, loving hug and a warm spirit, everyone felt like family to her. She was the epitome of selflessness and love. Jayne had the extraordinary ability to see the good in everyone and the beauty in everything. Each morning was spent with her cup of coffee watching the sun rise in conversation with God. Mom, MoMo and Aunt Jayne were her most favorite names. She never missed the opportunity to show up and support her grandkids and nieces and nephews. She lived and breathed for her grandchildren and began their days with a sweet text of encouragement. Not a single birthday would pass without a phone call singing Happy Birthday from MoMo and PaPa / Uncle Benny and Aunt Jayne.
Jayne is survived by her husband: Benny Mansfield; daughter: Mysti Mims (Jason); her three precious grandchildren: Huntley Michael Mims, Brynlee Belle Mims, & Berklee Rae Mims; sister: Charlsa Myers (Bill); brother: Dan Meacham (Pearley); and a number of nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jayne was preceded in death and greeted in the presence of God by her son, Michael Mansfield, who no doubt had a list of things for her to see.
Pallbearers will be Roy Mansfield, Jr., Mike Faulk, Charles Myers, Daniel Meacham, Alan Grant, Rodney Grant, Rusell Grant, Orrin Mansfield. & Seth Mansfield.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to: Midway Baptist Church Building Fund at 6200 S. Service Rd Big Spring, TX 79720.
