The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 2021 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
He was born Nov. 7, 1947, to RL Cranford and Doris Ruth Allen Cranford in Mineral Wells, Texas. Reg married the love of his life, Suzanne Jordan, May 29, 1971, in Wichita Falls. She preceded him in death March 28, 2013.
Reg graduated from Big Spring High School in 1966 and graduated from Texas Tech in 1970. He then attended Baylor Dental School, graduating in 1973. Because of a profound love of country, Reg joined the United States Navy. The family served two years in China Lake, California. After retiring from active duty, he served in the Naval Reserves, retiring in 1997. He practiced dentistry in Big Spring for 40 years, retiring in 2013.
Reg was an active member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and loved helping to run the Media Ministry. He was very involved with the Big Spring High School Exes Association and especially the class of 1966. He also enjoyed being the football announcer for 25 years for the Big Spring Steers. He was blessed by lifelong, faithful friendships and enjoyed spending time with his extended family and precious grandchildren. His family is forever grateful for his love of Jesus, the way he walked faithfully the words he read in his Bible every day. The legacy he left is beyond measure
Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Garcia and husband, Patrick, and Sarah Hawkins and husband, Brandon all of Lubbock, Texas; his mother, Doris Ruth Cranford of Rowlett, Texas; nine grandchildren: Kristina Antu, Brenna Antu McMeans and husband, Matthew, Randy Antu, Cora Hawkins, Truett Hawkins, Everett Hawkins, Rance Hawkins, and Nolan Hawkins; three sisters, Judy Smith and husband, Bryan, Nan Dean and husband, Michael, and Janice Vorster and husband Andre.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father, RL Cranford.
The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, 705 W. Marcy Dr., Big Spring, TX 79720 or to the BSHS Ex's Association.

Reg had three good friends in Fort Worth who had his love for model trains and in particular for the Texas and Pacific Railway. Add to that shared interests in marksmanship and all things naval and military and it´s fair to say all three of us think of Reg almost daily wanting to send him an email on this or that. Not the least of his attributes as well was his abiding Christian faith and his unwavering commitment to perfection and fair dealing in his dentistry and all aspects of his personal life. His passing has left a hole in all three of our lives and in my case at least I take comfort in knowing he´s made it... and I hope maybe he´s running his T&P 600 class 2-10-4 model this morning... or maybe riding on the footplate if the real thing!

Reg was a drafting student of mine at Big Spring and was always a good worker. After graduation he and I became close friends, sharing many of the same philosophies and interests. I treasure the times we spent together and the things we thought each other. Rest in piece, my friend

Reg was a fine dentist and naval officer. There is no one on earth with a stronger Christian faith. This is a huge loss.
