Shirley Cross Bodin

1937 - 2017

Shirley Cross Bodin, 80, of Sand Springs died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Linda Bequette, pastor, of the Coahoma First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.
Shirley was born Sept. 21, 1937, in Big Spring, to Bonnie Alren Ayers Cross and Mitchell Dalton Cross. She was a lifetime resident of Howard County and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Coahoma First United Methodist Church. She married Robert Boyett in 1960. He preceded her in death in 1967. She married Bill Bodin in 1972. Shirley received her Bachelor's Degree from Texas Women's University. She was a registered nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Big Spring from 1967 until 1973. She did volunteer work at the Big Spring State Hospital for over 20 years. Shirley and Bill were foster parents for several years for a number of children.
Shirley is survived by her husband Bill Bodin of Sand Springs; four daughters, Janet Nelson and her husband Jeff of Elk City, Oklahoma, Karen Martin and her husband John of Big Spring, Terri Croft of San Angelo, and Brook Bodin of Big Spring; one son, Robert Bodin and his wife Stephanie of Amarillo; daughter-in-law, Toni Bodin of Sand Springs; one sister, Carolyn Cross "Cookie" Stephens and her husband Steve of O'Donnell; 14 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Greg and Edward Bodin; and one sister, Sandra Cross Cox.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Nelson, John Martin, Andre Byrd, Robert Boyett, Jeremey Hart, and Patrick Croft.
