Bill, Kim and family ... so sorry for the loss of Mr. Bill. I first met him in 1980 when I came to Big Spring with a friend for a couple of meetings.

I can honestly say he was as gracious the last time I saw him as he was the very first.

Mr. Bill was a gentleman's gentleman. He was all of the things our parents (should have) taught us to be ... kind, courteous, and always looking for a way to help someone.

Big Spring, Howard County and West Texas all benefitted from his presence in the community.

He was one of that group of community leaders who helped make Big Spring a vibrant community and in true, old school fashion, he didn't really care if anyone knew the role he played ... as long as the job got done.

He was always supportive of our efforts at the Herald, advertising-wise, but he was a true friend in that if he thought we might have overstepped, he brought it to our attention in a dignified manner.
