Angie was born in Columbus, to William and Annie Onge (Brinkema) DeVries on Nov. 28, 1928. She graduated from Robert High School and lived and helped with the DeVries family farm. She worked at Newbeny's until she met Howard L. Thom.
Mom is preceded by her parents, sister Lillian (Lil) Zagurski, brothers William (Bill) DeVries, Robert (Bob) DeVries of Roberts, and daughter-in-law Helen Thom (Les) of Laurel, and is survived by sister-in-law Verna (Long) DeVries (Bob) of Roberts, sister Florence Sauther (Fred) of Spokane, Richard (Dick) DeVries of Shepherd/Boyd areas. Also surviving is son Les (Leslie) Thom of Laurel, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jesse Padilla of Lockwood. Her grandchildren Teresa Philhower Laubach, and husband Lance, of Lockwood, Robert Padilla of Billings, David Padilla of Lockwood. And her six great-grandchildren Lynn Angeline Laubach, Aliana Angelique Padilla, Tegan Kole Padilla, Ashlyn Angelique Padilla, David Blaze Padilla, and Roman 'Austin' Padilla, all of Lockwood and Billings.
She enjoyed being an Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews, and appreciated that they would write and just drop in'. She thought it wonderful that she had two best friends, "at her old age," Marilyn Eastman, and Pat Hart.
Mom passed gently, without pain, in the Comfort Care unit at Billings Clinic in the early morning hours on May 5, 2017. Mom wished not to have a church funeral as her soul is with Jesus already, but to have a day celebrating her life where each can share 'how she may have touched' your life. She asked for cremation, and interment at the Rockvale Cemetery with Dad, Howard. Her life celebration is being planned.
Please look for an announcement in the Laurel Outlook.
