Barbara Warddrip Obituary

Barbara passed away Aug. 27, 2015, at Aspen Meadows Long Term Care in Billings. She was 96 years old. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

Barbara was born to Alfred and Eleanor Sigg Nov. 4, 1918, in Verona, Mo. Later, they moved to Montana and she grew up with her five sisters and one brother on a homestead north of Joliet.

Barbara met her future husband, Otto L. Warddrip, at a dance in Nye, in a rock schoolhouse that still stands today. Her date was not Otto, but he won her heart from that day forward.

Barbara and Otto married on May 15, 1940, in Billings. Then they began their life together on a rented farm north of Columbus, Mont. In 1949, they bought an irrigated farm and a dryland ranch near Joliet. They spent many years farming and ranching but always found the fun time for hunting, fishing, boating, bowling and rock hounding.

Barbara was preceded in death by Otto and her sisters Alfreda Drabbs, Julia Slack, Martha Neutgens and Audrey Larson. She is survived by her son Robert (Jacqueline); granddaughter Jennifer (Brent) Sumner; grandson Robert Jr.; great grandson Lane Sumner; great granddaughter Sara Sumner; brother Jacob Sigg; and sister Carolyn Pilgrim.

A joint memorial service for Barbara and Otto will be held at a later date.
