CLAM GULCH, Alaska - Craig A. Scheckla, resident of Clam Gulch, Alaska, and Sheridan, Wyo., passed away Sunday, at his home in Alaska.
Craig was born in Portland, Ore., and was raised in northern California, where he attended McKinleyville High School. He operated a successful trucking business with his former wife Karen for most of his adult life and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Craig was one of three children of Jim and Eleanor Scheckla. He is survived by his brothers, Curt and Bart Scheckla. His children include one daughter, Connie Scheckla; and five stepchildren, Dee Dee Isaacs, Tim, Leo, Rob and Jack Goss. Craig also has 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Craig will be remembered for his passion of his trucking business and his hobbies of hunting and fishing. He loved having fun with friends and family, and believed in living life to the fullest.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, May 15, at 2 p.m., at Holy Name Catholic Church, with a reception following at the Sheridan Holiday Inn.
The family is asking that any memorials be sent to the cancer fund set up for his granddaughter who was recently diagnosed with cancer: Kim Fjell Medical Fund, PO Box 368, Ashland, MT 59003.
