Donald Goodman Obituary

A loving husband, father, brother and friend has departed from our presence in the early hours of the 24th of June surrounded by his loving family. Born on Feb. 26, 1942, Donald Goodman was the eldest of two sons born to Jake and Ruby Goodman. The family began farming in Billings and later moved to Fromberg, where Don graduated from high school in 1960.

With his quick wit and wry sense of humor, Don was always able to leave people with a smile on their face. A true man of the land, Don was born a farmer raising and harvesting sugar beets, barley and corn. Since the ripe old age of seven, he was driving tractors and cars, where his favorite marques were John Deer and Ford. Nothing else would suffice.

Always willing to help out a neighbor, friend or stranger in need, Don was a very civic minded man. He was a member of the board and served on the research committee for the Mountain States Beet Growers Association, the Fromberg School Board, as well as the director of the Sand Creek and Bartlett Canal Ditch Boards. Don's hobbies also allowed him to extend his goodwill. He was a member of the Rainmakers Bike Club, the association where he participated in antique tractor pulls.

He married his lifelong love, Gloria Peppin, in 1966, and began raising their family of three children.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Jake, Ruby; stepmother Marguerite; father-in-law Vern Peppin and niece Ondrea Benner. He was survived by his wife of nearly 50 years and their children, Dana (Evan) Johnston, Dawn (Chris) Hagen and Donald Jr., aka Sonny. He is also survived by his loving brother and best friend, Wayne (Penny); mother-in-law Lorraine (Harold) Whittman; sister-in-law Patti Benner (Tom Johnson); grandchildren Kylie, Ethan, Alye, Amy and Brendan; nieces and nephews Israel, Gabriel, Bobby, Brandon, Byron, Brenda and many loving neighbors and friends.

Donations may be made in honor of Don to the Fromberg FFA chapter or a charity of one's choice.

Services will be at 11 a.m., June 30, at Shiloh United Methodist Church. To honor Don's love of John Deere, please wear your "John Deere Green."

Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Condolences can be sent through www.cfgbillings.com through "Our Families."
