Donald Strausburg Obituary

ELY, Nev. ? Donald Howard Strausburg, of Ely, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2005, at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was 61.

Mr. Strausburg was born Jan. 13, 1943, in Great Falls, Mont., to Howard and Edythe McEaneny Strausburg. He served with the U.S. Army. He worked for Line Builders Corporation, coming to Ely in 1974. He was employed in 1975 by Mt. Wheeler Power and made Ely his home.

He is survived by three children, Terri (Richard) Lee of Kearns, Utah, Roger (Kathy) Tucker of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sherri (Bill) Calderwood of Ely; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Bill (Nellie) Strausburg of San Antonio, Texas, Jim Strausburg of Medford, Ore., and Dick (Jeanette) Strausburg of Billings; plus numerous extended family members.

Mr. Strausburg served as a member of the Ely Volunteer Fire Department, VFW, president of the local Little League and worked with the Jr. Jazz Program. He also coached White Pine High School Girls Golf. After becoming too ill to be actively involved with youth sports programs, he became a loyal spectator at all school sports. He also loved to golf and bowl.

A memorial service is scheduled at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ely, Nev., at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. Luncheon will be served at Saint Lawrence Hall immediately after.

Interment of ashes will be at a later date.
