WILSALL - Perhaps the best way to describe Doris Kathleen Phipps Carroll would be to call her a prayer warrior. Her children, Robyn Rupprecht (Jon), Rhonda Megorden (Craig) and Dwayne (Sheila), as well as her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Caleb Carroll, David and Andrew Megorden, are living testimonies of her prayers in that each of them knows Jesus as Lord. One of Mom's favorite verses was "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth" 3 John 4.
Doris was born in Chadbourn, N.C., on Dec. 15, 1934, and spent most of her youth on a farm there, enjoying her siblings, Esthleen, Jewell, Bobbie Jean, Denny and Russell. During the last 47 years of living in Montana, she became a woman who loved the mountain view and life on Indian Creek. God granted her heart's desire to live out her life there, leaving only when her earthly journey ended on May 22, 2010.
Since Gene, her husband of 43 years, passed away in 1998, much of Doris' time has been divided between life at Wilsall and caring for her mother, Bessie, in Virginia. Her servant's heart has touched many lives, both here and in Virginia. Before Gene's passing, she spent time caring for others as a Hospice volunteer. Her cheerful attitude and giving heart are the stuff legends are made of … all of this prompted by her love of God and her desire to please Him.
Laughter filled her heart and spilled over into the lives of her children, grandchildren, extended family and her many friends. One of her greatest joys was making others feel loved and special.
As we think of Doris, we recall Philippians 1:3 "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you."
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, May 26, at Wilsall Community Church, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church at 112 S. Liquid Hills Lane, Wilsall, MT 59086, or the charity of your choice.
Thank you, Lord, for sharing her with us.
