Doris Thayer Obituary

Doris M. Thayer, 75, of Billings, died Feb. 18, 2007, in her sleep, while in the hospital recovering from heart surgery.
Doris was born June 30, 1931, in Britton, S.D., to Lily (Besuchet) and Arthur E. Glarum. She graduated from Brampton (N.D.) High School. She lived on a farm in North Dakota until her marriage to Durwood Thayer on Oct. 14, 1950, in Britton, S.D. She moved to Billings in 1967.
After working at Buhls Cleaners for a short time, Doris worked for 18 years as a bus aide with School District #2, retiring in 1996. She was active in the Ladies of the Moose Auxiliary and was a member of the Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed dancing, sewing, cooking and reading books. She also enjoyed getting together with all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Buffy.
She is survived by her husband, Durwood Thayer; children, Timothy N., Valorie J. (Tommy) Johnson and Vicki L. (Larry) Lueck, all of Billings, and Thomas M. (Mona) of Worden; sister, Marianne Voigt of Aberdeen, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Tawna, Brooke, Joshua, Shaina, Tyler, Bo and Morgan; and three great-grandchildren, MacKenzi, Avery and Mataya.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Lily Glarum; two sisters, Eunice and Lucille; and one brother, Leroy.
Cremation will take place. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 29 Eighth St. West, with a luncheon reception following at the Moose Lodge, 131 Calhoun Lane.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to VFCU, PO Box 20417, Billings, MT 59104, c/o Valorie Johnson to help with expenses for her kidney transplant.
