Edwin Rasmussen Obituary

Edwin Carl Rasmussen, 82, of Billings, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, surrounded by family.

Ed was born in Anoka, Minn., on March 4, 1931, the son of Donald and Selma Rasmussen. He had four brothers, Bob, Billy and Donald, who have all passed away, and George, who is still alive. He also had three step-siblings: Carl, Harold and Violet.

Ed served his country for three years in the 11th Airborne Division. He married Delphia "Dolly" Houston on Dec. 21, 1987, at Hope United Methodist Church in Billings.

Ed was owner/operator for Dick Jones Trucking the last several years of his career. He retired to spend quality time with all those that he loved, especially his wife, Dolly. Together, they loved to dance, sing and spend time with family.

Ed's hobbies were to play his guitar and sing. It has been said that Ed never met a stranger. He made a life of getting to know people and making their lives better.

Ed is survived by his wife, Dolly; four children from a previous marriage, Jo Lee (Dale) Baxter, Linda Dahl, Kathy Verplancke and Michael (Tammy) Rasmussen; Dolly's children, Charlene Houston, Jeff (Carol) Houston, Randy (Rhonda) Houston and Valerie (Fred) Hoffman; 23 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was loved deeply.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 29, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 1138 16th St. W., Billings, MT 59102.

Arrangements are by Cremation & Funeral Gallery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.cfgbillings.com through "Our Families."
