Elinor Dearcorn Obituary

POWELL, Wyo. - Funeral services for longtime Powell resident Elinor Garnet (Pressler) Dearcorn, who died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at the Powell Valley Care Center, will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at 10 a.m., at First United Methodist Church. She was 96.
She had been a resident of the nursing home since mid-September. She was born Dec. 10, 1909, in Westmoreland, Kan., to Homer and Harriet Pressler. She married Frank Morris Dearcorn, Aug. 20, 1929, in Wray, Colo.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Willwood Women's Club, and had a long association with county extension service. She served 10 years in leadership positions with Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and 4-H. She was a board member of the Powell Senior Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Myrna Edmonds of Crandall; her son, Dexter (Barbara) Dearcorn of Powell; seven grandchildren, Cheryl Groskop, Diana Schamerhorn, Karen Lowe, Rodney Edmonds, Connie Penwell, Carla Koepp and Marla Hintze; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank Dearcorn, on Nov. 4, 1975.
For those who wish, the family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Powell Senior Center.
Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

While working at Absaroka Assisted Living here in Cody, I had the privilege of getting acquainted with a real lady. Elinor will certainly be missed.
