Emilio Campos was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Crystal City, Texas, to Emilio and Hermania Castro Campos. His family consisted of nine siblings: three brothers and six sisters, with Emilio being the youngest. As Emilio began his journey in life, he found he had to learn the English language in order to find work for the migrant workers he and his brothers would bring to work in the fields at various farms in Montana.
During the off season, Emilio met and married Amanda Herrera Luna. Emilio's family eventually settled in the small farm community of Hysham where he worked on Herman Eldring's farm. He raised his family in Hysham until he felt motivated to move on. He enjoyed traveling with his work to California, Wyoming and Montana. He ultimately decided to retire in Billings.
Preceded in death are his father and mother; Amanda Herrera Luna Campos; his eldest son, Ricardo Campos; and eight of his nine siblings.
Emilio is survived by his wife, Darlene Maxwell, and children Amanda C. Workman, Emilio Campos Jr., Victor Campos (Sylvia), Victoria Valdez, Sonia Avila and Jamie Campos. He is also survived by his dear sister Juanita, who has been a great source of support and friendship through the years. Emilio has a legacy of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he was especially close to his grandson Adam Workman who lives in Billings and was able to spend a good deal of time with Emilio.
