Emma Reiter Obituary

And her children shall call her blessed.

Emma Reiter of Billings, passed away early Nov. 10, 2006, of a sudden heart attack.
Emma was born May 22, 1917, the fourth child of Anna and Fred Kreb. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Huntley Project. She met George Reiter at a barn dance and knew that day he was the man she was going to marry. They married July 3, 1936, and were married 60 years until his death in 1996. Together they formed Empire Sand and Gravel and traveled various locations across the State together.
Emma was a happy, loving person, enjoying many things in her life, most especially her family. She loved to crochet and had read the Bible from cover to cover more than three times. Her biggest wish was to live long enough to see every one of her grandchildren graduate and in May 2006, her last grandchild M'ily graduated from Senior High and Emma proudly watched from the stands. Her love for her grandchildren was immeasurable and they all felt the same way about her. She especially enjoyed watching her grandkids play sports and was their biggest fan.
Emma lived at Mission Ridge the last five years. She enjoyed playing pinochle a few times a week with her friends, and attending a Bible study. She was a member of the Hilands Golf Club and enjoyed her membership and golf there for the last 40 years. She was a competitor with many trophies in her bowling and a "hole-in-one" at the Hilands at the age of 70.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Sandra Reiter; son and wife, Meredith and Janet their children, Mark (Judy), Tracy (Barry), Nick (Kari), Mary Beth (Kevin), Annie, Kathleen (Andy), and Johnny; her son, Greg and wife Stacey, and their children, McLean, McKenzie, and M'ily. She had four little great-grandchildren, Shea, Meredith, Kate and Jacque; one sister, Rose Long of Billings and three brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
Emma will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, her good sense of humor and compatible spirit. We will miss you Mom and Grandma!
Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice, PO Box 35033, Billings, MT 50197 or the YWCA, 909 Wyoming Avenue, Billings, MT 59102.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at Smith's Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 N. 27th St. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
