Grace Satterthwait Obituary

Grace Evelyn Satterthwait

June 19, 1926 - September 12, 2025

It is with deep sadness, the family announces the passing of our Matriarch, Grace Evelyn Satterthwait. She left this world, but not our hearts, Friday, September 12th, at the age of 99. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Linda Rookhuizen, Lonyta Krantz and her niece, Punky who has been like a daughter to her. She is preceded in death by her husband, "Sonny" and her beautiful daughter, Karen Fox. Her siblings, Edie (Bernard), Ethel (Harold), Norman, Hannah (Red) and Les (Audrey) preceded her as well as her devoted son-in-law, Art.

Grace was born June 19, 1926 to Morton and Clara Howard in Duluth, Minn. At the tender age of eight, Morton passed suddenly which left Grace to help care for her siblings. This love and devotion she had for her family became her lifelong work and her soul's purpose. As years went on, she made time to know all that was going on in the lives of her family. She offered advice, encouragement, comfort and became a fierce warrior of protection and concern-many times unable to rest for the night until knowing all were safe. She loved her grandchildren, great and great-greats! Even during hard times or illness, she never forgot to send out a birthday card.

This beautiful, strong Norweigan will forever be missed and her legacy lives on in the lives she's touched.

We pray that her soul reaches heaven's gates and the lives that preceded her are there to greet her with loving arms.

Her legacy continues in these lives:

Grandchildren: James Haney, Stewart Haney, Rob (Debbie) Haney, Alyssa (Danny) Redden, Fawn (Scott) Fox, Tammy (Joe) Hauser, Kris Scott, Maureen Rookhuizen, great-niece and nephew which were like grandchildren: Justine (Mike) Beyl, Dennis (Dawn) Mailloux, and special neighbor that was like a grandchild to Grace, Angelica Johnson.

Great-grandchildren: Mason, Chris, Aaron, Lacie, Clay, Austin, Emmalie (Gabe), Jacob, Adam(Dena), Colter, Cassady, Taylor, Reese, Audrey, Shane, Parker, Greyden, and Keenan.

Great-Great-Grandchildren: Lacey, Penny, Maverick and Eleanor.

Nieces: Sharon and Dena.

Nephews: Harold, Gerald, Duane, Mike and Les "Jabbo."

Great-niece Kasi and Great Nephew Shane as well as numerous friends. Our apologies if we have missed anyone.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 18th, 11 a.m., at Mountview Cemetery, 1704 Central Avenue, Billings, MT.

I spent many days at Grace and Sonny's house on Boulder Ave. They took care of me when my folks were working. Grace was the sweetest and kindest person ever. Stewart, James and all of Grace's family may you find peace in the coming days. Give my mom a hug. RIP my dear Grace.
