Jasper Larson Obituary

MISSOULA - Jasper Larson joined his Savior on Oct. 24, 2006, at the home of his son in Missoula, surrounded by his family and wife of 54 years.
Jasper was born on the family homestead near Andes, Mont., on Jan. 6, 1926. He attended a country school near the family farm until he went away to high school in Sidney.
After school, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. He was joined in marriage on June 21, 1952, to Ila Carlson, and to this union, five children were born: Randall Craig, Kathy Ann, Joseph Allen, Ronald Peter and Cynthia Lane. After the service, he returned to the family farm until 1963, when he relocated to the Belgrade area.
In 1964, he entered the logging profession. Over the course of his logging career, Jasper and his two sons logged in many areas of Montana and Idaho. He will be remembered as one of the best log loaders by his trucker friends. He continued to be active in the family business and in his shop until his health failed, but was still able to give good advice until the time of his death.
Jasper enjoyed mechanicin' on old cars, tractors, logging equipment, attending auction sales, guns and NASCAR. He especially enjoyed keeping in touch with his childhood friends and reminiscing with them. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren and enjoyed doing all kinds of activities with them.
The Larson family would like to express his thankfulness to the loving and helpful staff of Hospice of Missoula, all nurses and staff at St. Patrick's Hospital and clinic, Pharmacist Butch Guthrie and associates at Osco Drug, Dr. Snyder and Dr. Munding. A special thanks from the Larson family to Dr. Michael Caldwell, our dad and grandfather's physician. Dad enjoyed your visits while he was in your care.
Jasper was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, five sisters and his infant son, Ronald Peter. He is survived by his wife, Ila; children Randy (Polly) of Arlee, Kathy (Doug) Pust of Savage, Joe (Teri) Larson of Missoula and Cindy (Mark) Foster of Atlanta; his grandchildren; and many friends.
He will be missed by many, especially his 15 grandchildren: Luke, Emily and Natalie Larson, Nathan, Kasey, Phillip and Kimberly Pust, Caleb, Eric, Rachel, Brooke and Beau Larson, Katie (Matt Day), Alex and Adam Foster.
Jasper's wishes were to be buried in Eastern Montana next to his infant son, Ronald Peter. A memorial service will be held at Yellowstone Community Church in Savage, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28.

Ikie and family,

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. You were truly blessed to have him as a husband and as a father, as I was to have him as an uncle.

Love,
Jill
