Marlene George Obituary

(March 23, 1940 - Aug. 8, 2004)

Marlene George, born on March 23, 1940, in Wolf Point, to Amelia and Herbert August Eckart, passed away Aug. 8, 2004. She grew up and went to school in Sidney. In 1957, Marlene married Lyle George. In over 45 years of marriage, Marlene had two children and was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren. She loved her family and home and took great pride in both. She devoted the majority of her life raising her two daughters and helping with her grandchildren, whom she watched grow and took part in their many activities.
Marlene enjoyed growing wonderful gardens with her green-thumb and cheering for the Raiders. In the last few years, she was active in her community and enjoyed life to the fullest.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Oliver Eckart and her sisters, Irene Reidel and Alfield Eckart.
Left to carry on her memory are her three sisters, Mary Kemp of Bastrop, La., Betty Kringen of Sidney, Barb Schlosser of Butte; brothers, Ed Eckart of Great Falls and Jim Eckart of Billings; two daughters, Pam Gabel of Huntley and Jodi Burbank of Huntley; four grandchildren, Andrea Drinkwalter of Billings, Bailly and Shaye Burbank of Huntley and Miranda Gabel of Huntley; 20 nieces and 16 nephews, and many countless friends.
Mom, you will be missed. You're a wonderful mom and a great grandma. Thank you for all you've done to help with the little people.
G'ma, I'll always remember you. You are my best friend and soap opera buddy. You are a selfless teacher to me and many others. My attempt at a "green-thumb" was well taught by you. You have shown me how to be strong and to hold a family together, and most importantly how to love someone so much it hurts. On Aug. 8, you taught me the most priceless lesson. If you love someone, tell them, because on that day I didn't and it is too late. I'll love you forever and miss you tons. Your Dolly.
Devoted mother, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, we all love you and miss you very much. You will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 13, 2 at the Atonement Lutheran Church, corner of Wicks and Lake Elmo. Interment will follow at Mountview Cemetery.

That was a very nice obituary that you and your uncle wrote. It was one of the hardest, yet most beautiful, things I have ever read. Just so you know I will give you my shoulder, if there is anything more that I can do to help, please let me know..... Jodi, Andie and Dad, I love you guys.
