Maude O'Brien Boerger

We offer our final salute to Maude O'Brien Boerger who was born in Gallipolis, OH in 1926 and passed away June 6, 2025, in Billings, MT. Although she would live in many places through the years, Maude always retained a special love for Gallipolis as home.

One of the first things that comes to mind when remembering Maude was her genuine and persistent sense of humor that enabled her to laugh often at herself and life's foibles. Her laughter endeared her to many.

Maude's most treasured value was her family and friendships. Her front door and her heart were always open to those she loved whether near or distant. Notably, she maintained friendships with a close-knit group of women from Dennison U. for over 70 years. Family could always count on her to care, and care deeply.

Maude also held a great attachment to things that told stories of her valued connection to people both alive and deceased. Boxes of photo albums and letters, framed photos on the wall, jewelry, paintings, "artifacts", and more spoke of dearly held memories and called forth a treasure trove of detailed and animated stories. Indeed, her story telling was legendary in family circles.

There is not enough space to tell of her delight and interest in sports, politics, current events, movies, music, history, socializing, and the Episcopal church. Her competitive and high achieving nature was revealed in the way she swam, golfed, and played bridge. She also enjoyed a long career in social work and took great care in her personal appearance right up until the end.

She is predeceased by her husband, John and her sister, Cherry. She leaves behind brothers, Mike and John; son, Jeff and his wife, Beryl; daughter, Susan; grandsons, Jonathan, Christopher, and David; great grandchildren, Noah, Leif, and Freya as well as many other much loved family members.

Truly, Maude, the family matriarch, is irreplaceable and will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
