Raymond Henry (Ron) Frates

December 20, 1938 - June 3, 2025

BILLINGS - Raymond Henry Frates (Ron), age 86, of Billings, Mont., passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025 with his granddaughter Faith Nichols and daughter Sondra Nichols by his side.

Born December 20, 1938, in Sacramento, Calif. Ron was a son to his predeceased parents, Norma and Raymond Henry Frates Sr. He was a beloved Husband, Step-Dad, Uncle, Grandpa and friend who spent many years in paving and construction. He was an avid garage sale goer, thrifter and woodworker. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mavis Frates; children, Sondra Nichols, John Bailey, Joe Bailey, and Jim Bailey; and several grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on June 13, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Bernard Church, 226 Wicks Lane Billings, MT 59105. A viewing will be held on June 12, at Smith's Funeral Home, 925 S 27th St Billings, MT from 3 to 7 p.m. More information will be on smithfuneralchapels.com in the coming days.
