Richard Loren Myhre
OREGON CITY - Richard Loren Myhre, 68, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 after battling liposarcoma, a rare cancer, for 1-1/2 years.
He was born in Billings, Montana on June 28, 1955 to Lorry and Marilyn Myhre. He and his sister Elaine (Steve) from Memphis remained close friends since childhood. Later in life, they made many wonderful memories together on family vacations at the Oregon coast. He also loved the large family reunions with cousins where he enjoyed leading games.
Richard's first job was at Northwest Fixture Company in Billings, the family business founded by his grandfather Ed Biggerstaff. He thrived at Billings Senior High School where he was honored by his peers as homecoming king, student body president and governor of Montana Boys State.
He received a bachelor's degree from Lewis and Clark College and his master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri in Columbia. His skills were used in various ways throughout his career, including nearly 18 years in communications at PGE in Portland. Later on, he was proud of founding his own company, Surefire Marketing Communications.
Richard and family lived in Columbia, Missouri for 13 years before moving to Oregon City. He and his wife Jeanne enjoyed 43 wonderful years of adventure together. He adored his children and their spouses: Carrie (Phil) and John (Lindsey); and grandchildren Aliyah and Austin. One of his favorite pastimes with the children was creating adventure stories, with the kids as heroes of course!
Richard led a purpose driven life, passionate about his faith in Jesus. Cultivating community by leading men's groups for the past four years was one of his greatest joys. He is well known among family and friends for his exuberance for life, creativity and spontaneity. He loved adventure, travel and especially fishing for salmon and steelhead.
His gregarious nature easily attracted others wherever he went, across cultures and continents. Richard will be deeply missed by all his relatives and countless friends. We rejoice that he is with his Savior now and suffering no more.

I worked with Richard for several years at PGE. He was a great help in coordinating PGE´s communications, especially around regulatory matters. He always had a positive attitude. He helped make the work environment a fun place and brought people together. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

In loving memory of Richard, a beacon of kindness whose warmth touched the hearts of all who crossed paths with them. Their generosity and compassion knew no bounds, extending even to strangers, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known them. They will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the memories of those whose lives they brightened with their selfless acts of kindness. Rest in peace, dear friend.

May the love that comes from the memories of your dearly departed comfort you now and in the days ahead. As you go through this difficult time, may this Bible verse bring you comfort at Isa. 41:10 "Do not be afraid, for I am with you. do not be anxious, for I'm your God. I will fortify you , yes I will help you and hold on to you with my right Hand"
I wish you peace and comfort as you grieve
