Robert Rogers Obituary

Robert T. Rogers, 83, of Billings, fought his last brave battle with cancer on Wednesday, March 10, 2004. Robert was born Jan. 24, 1921, the only child of Truman and Elsie Rogers, in Pendleton, Ore.
He attended school in Pendleton, and upon graduation he moved to Billings. He attended Billings Business College and graduated from Rocky Mountain College.
On June 16, 1942, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a Court Reporter, beginning with the Judge Advocate General's Office in England and was later stationed in Marseille, France. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army, Robert returned to Montana, where he married Margaret Louise Haley in Billings on June 16, 1951.
Robert served as a court reporter in District Court for the Thirteenth Judicial District of Montana. Robert was known nationally for his excellent court reporting skills and held the National Court Reporters Association Certificate of Proficiency, Certificate of Merit and the State of Washington Certificate of Excellence, as well as being a certified shorthand reporter in the state of Colorado.
Robert's hobbies include his love of music, particularly Dixieland Jazz. He played trumpet in numerous bands, including the Mabel Straight Band, The Bob Rogers Dance Band, The Al Bedoo Shrine Band and The Fallout Five Dixieland Jazz Band.
Robert is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, John; daughter, Linda; three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 15, at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary. Interment with full military honors will follow at Mountview Cemetery Veterans Section.

Dear margret and kids, I am so sad to hear about bob dodie called me today and told me. I will miss him and often thought of him as he was like a second dad while i was growing up. He held a warm spot in my heart .He was a warm and caring man and i will always remember how he helped me and my mom while i was growning up. I am again so sorry love margo and family
