On Sept. 10, 2016, at 11:25 a.m., Ruth "Ruthie" Catherine Perkins, with her adult children at her bedside, died of lung cancer. She was 80 years young.
Born April 7, 1936, to Pete and Mabel Parini, in Anaconda. Ruth met and married John William Plott, July 2, 1954. They had four children, the first, Cathy, died within a month of her birth. They were divorced in 1966. She met and married Leo Perkins in 1970. Leo was killed in the small plane he was piloting, along with her brother, Richard Parini in 1977.
Ruth was the last manager of the historic Montana Hotel, where years before, at the age of 15 she began waiting tables. She also owned and operated several businesses in Anaconda. At 52, she moved to Tacoma, Washington. She worked as a waitress, putting herself through school, receiving an Associate's Degree in the medical field. Ruth moved to Billings, Montana in 1997, to be near her daughter Tina and family. She worked at The Billings Medical Clinic. She retired in 2014 at the age of 78.
She was skilled in the art of crafts and sold her pieces in craft fairs. Her last creation was a wedding veil she made for her granddaughter, Sydney, which she wore Sept. 5, 2016. Ruth was also a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernard Catholic Church and an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners.
"Ruthie" was a strong willed and independent woman who was loved and respected by all who knew her. This great woman is survived by her sister JoAnn Fuller, her brother Bill (Katie) Finnegan, her sons John (Aster) Plott and Ron Plott, her daughter Tina (Kevin) Prosenick, five grandchildren, and four great grandchildren who dearly love their Grandma Ruth. And last, but certainly not least, her two Pomeranians, Sydney and Pepper, who also gave her much joy and love. She will always be a big part of our hearts and lives. . .
Mom, Grandma, Sis, Ruthie, we love you. You will be missed.
Memorial Mass at 10 a.m., Sept. 23, at St. Bernard Catholic Parish. Rite of Committal 4:30 p.m., Mount Olivet Cemetery in Anaconda.
