CROW AGENCY - Sheldon Dean Pickett, 43, of Crow Agency, died Dec. 23, 2009, in Hardin.
Bainniiitchesh "Talks good to others" was born July 31, 1966, in Crow Agency, a son of Robert and Edith Woodtick Pickett. He was raised in the Crow Agency area and received his education in Crow Agency, St. Xavier and Hardin. He later attended the Clearfield Utah Job Corps, where he received training to become a mason.
He was a member of the Crow Community Baptist Church, Native American Church, Greasy Mouth Clan and was a Bad War Deeds child. He participated in traditional events including several Sun Dances, Peyote meetings and Sweat Lodge ceremonies. He enjoyed arrow throwing, was a Junior Hand-games Champion for three years as a medicine man and was an expert tepee builder, especially during the Crow Fair. He was a singer and entertainer who loved to socialize with his friends.
His mother, brother Rodney Rock, aunt Louise Three Irons and uncles Lee and Raphael Plain Feather, Andrew, Sam Jr. and Gilbert Bird in Ground Sr. preceded Sheldon in death.
Survivors include his father Robert Pickett; his sisters, LeeAnn (Jackson) Pretty on Top and Fannie Ward; his brothers, Earl Leo (Roberta) Rock, Orin (Diana) and Robert Pickett Jr.; aunts, Laura Pickett Real Bird, Ruby Plain Feather, Phyllis (Merle) Big Medicine, Judy (Art) Bryant, Shirleen Glenn, Violet Other Medicine, Laura He Does It, Anita Moran and Ernestine Bird in Ground; uncles, Blaine (Danetta) Falls Down, Joe (Rena) and Lloyd (Elvina) Pickett, Andrew (Diane) Russell, Merle, Danny (Mary Ruth), Roland (Kathy) and Samuel Plain Feather; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his extended family including the Pretty Paint, Other Medicine, Plain Feather, Morrison, Lion Shows, High Hawk, Top Sky, White Swan, Chief Stick, Carpenter, Long Ears, Woodtick, Chief Goes Out, Rock, his Canadian family and his Rocky Boy families.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, in the Crow Agency Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
