Susan Simons Obituary

PARK CITY - Susan Paula Simons, 67, of Park City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 28, 2015.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1947, to Del and Jo Fusch in Seattle, Wash. As a child she traveled to Brazil, where her parents were missionaries. They shared with her their love for the Lord and their love of music. Around 9 years old, she taught herself how to play the organ that her grandfather built. With her brother Bob and sister Diane she sang and played many instruments including the piano, organ, accordion, guitar and bass fiddle. For years, her passion for music was shared with everyone who knew her.

Sue was an incredible mother to her four children Jeremy, Jonathan, Joshua and Jamie. She married Richard Simons on Feb. 22, 1992, and with the love they had for each other, their two families became one. Rich and Sue celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary this year.

She taught music and choir for several years, but continued to give private music lessons out of her home. She was deeply involved with Laurel United Methodist Church for more than 25 years and led the choir there. Sue and Rich loved to travel south every winter to spend time with their vast polka family. Along with friend Jim Baum, she played in the "Don Roller Band" and later the "Just Us Two" band. They played yearly in Arizona and regularly in the Billings area and many other states.

She is survived by her husband, Rich Simons, of Park City; her children Jeremy and Nichole Sawyer, Jon and Angela Sawyer, Josh and Jessica Sawyer, and Jamie and Ryan Arnold; three stepchildren, Bobby and Jennifer Simons, Jody Simons, and Lee Ann and Dave Gaer; 16 grandchildren, one great-grandson, multiple nieces and nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Del and Jo Fusch; and her grandson Garrett in 2010.

She was a true angel on earth, illuminating God's love to those around her. Sue cherished her family and touched everyone with her beautiful heart and soul. Her talents were magical, her voice angelic, and we know she has already found a piano and is singing in Heaven for eternity. Sue's smile was contagious and lives on through her children and grandchildren. She was taken from us too soon and will be dearly missed. Our lives will not be the same without Sue. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at the Laurel United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Big Sky Polka Club or the Laurel United Methodist Church, two of Sue's biggest passions.
