Wayland Deputee Obituary

Our beloved son and brother, Wayland Deputee, Jr. 23, of Billings went home to be with the Lord early Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2005.
Wayland was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 16, 1981. He was a member of the Crow Tribe of Indians, a child of the Big Lodge and of the Big Lodge Clan and lived most of his life on the Crow Reservation. He is also a descendant of the Chukchansi Yokut Tribe from California. He attended schools at Lodge Grass Elementary and Junior High schools. He attended high school at St. Labre Indian School, Hardin High School and graduated in 2001 from Lodge Grass High School.
Wayland enjoyed playing chess for which he won a trophy in 1993. He was a gifted trumpet player and received an Outstanding Musician 1st Place Trophy at the Chicago Music Festival Tournament in 1998, in which he bested 5,000 other students. Wayland loved to play video games and could often be found playing them for endless hours. He enjoyed playing poker and pool. He enjoyed playing computer games in which he could play people from around the world. His teachers recounted his talents in writing and poetry. In his spare time, he wrote his own stories and spent time with his family.
His grandparents, Chester Deputee and Ruth Graham preceded Wayland in death.

To the family of Wayland,

Our condolences to the Deputee family, you are in our thoughts and prayers. We just wanted the family to know that Wayland was a good person and that he was a scholastic winner. He had all the qualities of being a successful person. We will always remember him as a gentle, kind and very, very smart gentleman. May God be with all of you.

He was a sweet, gentle, level headed young man,Wayland always had a smile and a hello for his co-workers, helped when ever he was asked, never spoke out in anger and found humor in the little things, you must be very proud of him. We will miss him very much.
