Dr Bharat Sarathi Kapoor passed away on September 9 in Birmingham, Alabama. Sarathi will be missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Shalini Kapoor (Craig Stephens) and Suhale Kapoor (Shivani), his and grandchildren, Adit, Anna and Jai, his former wife, Veena Kapoor, his brothers, Shashi, Gogi (Pinky) Malhotra and extended family, as well as his circle of lifelong friends and colleagues. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sarla and GD Malhotra. Born in Punjab, raised while in Delhi by Kamla and IS Vohra, Sarathi had a lifelong passion for learning which spanned across continents, professions, and decades. He received his MBBS from Maulana Azad Medical College, his MRCP in Pulmonology in London, and further specialization in Nephrology in Cincinnati. Later in life he studied law, receiving a JD in Birmingham. He was loved and respected by colleagues and patients at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham where he devoted 43 years. Always the life of the party, he was fun-loving, witty and affectionate - the consummate Punjabi with his love of food and drink, yet down to earth and in later life, a very private person. He was an accomplished chef, always lovingly preparing extravagant meals for his family and friends. A man of many passions, Sarathi loved books, crossword puzzles, painting, traveling, collecting stamps and coins. He had a big heart, which ultimately failed him at Brookwood Hospital, where he was surrounded by his children and colleagues. The family would like to express our gratitude for your outpouring of kind words, thoughts, and prayers. We invite you to join us Wednesday, September 15 at 10:30am at Charter Funeral Home, Calera, Alabama, for the Memorial Service followed by a prayer meeting. Or on Zoom: https://zoom.us/my/suhale (or Meeting ID 9810032270). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.

Pappu Uncle was a kind soul with wit and humor to spare. He could have a conversation with anyone, and he could make anyone laugh. He could finish a NY Times crossword puzzle with relative ease. He studied the law just to learn it. We were always blessed when he made the trip up from Alabama to visit. His vivacious personality, laughter, funny stories, and zest for life will truly be missed! Eternal rest grant unto him O lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of god, rest in peace. Amen.

Sincere Condolences to the Kapoor Family may he rest in eternal peace. Dr. Kapoor was our mother's Kidney Specialist from 1985-1993. Because of his care, we had her for 7 additional years. When I started working at Brookwood I witnessed the care that he gave to his other patients as well. Dr. Kapoor, you will not be forgotten.

There are too many wonderful memories while visiting with Shalini about her dad. I cannot even begin to explain the devotion Shalini had for her father. Everything would stop at a moments notice if her dad needed help. So many holidays were spent together as a loving family. I most definitely consider their family as a strong family. I will be lifting them all up in prayer during this difficult time.
