Albert Kovash

Funeral Mass for Albert Kovash, 86, of Dickinson, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. Russ Kovash and Monsignor Thomas Richter celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery.

Visitation for Albert will be held from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2024 at Stevenson Funeral Home in Dickinson with a rosary being held at 6:00 p.m.

Albert Kovash passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at St. Luke's Home in Dickinson. Albert Peter Kovash was born in Dickinson on May 24, 1938, the son of Peter and Mary (Sadowsky) Kovash. He attended rural farm school for 8 years and graduated from Model High School in Dickinson. At 19, Al married the love of his life, Evelyn Privratsky at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church on October 15, 1957. Together they became the proud parents of five children, Keith, Nancy, Randy, Scott, and Tom.

Al managed Midwest Motors from 1956 to 1976. In 1976, Al and Evelyn opened and managed Kovash Furniture, a well-known Dickinson store front for over 48 years. Al always greeted many friends and acquaintances with a friendly smile when you walked in the doors of Kovash Furniture. He seen many changes in the world of home furnishings over the years and enjoyed showcasing 'what's new' as well as products that provided comfort in customer's homes. Al worked until he couldn't, with his sons handling the business now.

When Al wasn't hard at work, you could find him enjoying time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Al loved bowling, fishing, golfing, going out to eat, coffee and cards with the guys, and most importantly, yardwork. Al was a member of Knights of Columbus, Dickinson Elks 1137, as well as a charter member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Albert is survived by his wife, Evelyn of 66 years; daughter, Nancy (Terry) Ferderer; sons, Keith (Michelle) Kovash of Dickinson, Randy (Shawn) Kovash of North Carolina, Scott (Michelle) Kovash of Dickinson, Tom (Kim) Kovash of South Dakota; sisters in law, Lillian Kovash, Donna Kovash; grandchildren, Christopher (Kelsey) Kovash of Dickinson, Tyler (Elizabeth) Ferderer of Colorado, Tanner (Sophia) Ferderer of Montana, Kristin Kovash of South Dakota, Brandon (Sofia-Fiancé) and Mary Cate Kovash of North Carolina, Hannah (Payton) Johnson of Bismarck, Jack Kovash of Dickinson, Caitlyn (Boston) Bauer of South Dakota, Michael Kovash of Minnesota, Isaac, Amaya, John, and Philip Kovash of South Dakota; great grandchildren, Grant Ferderer, Macklynn and Addilynn Kovash, Cashton and Maddox Bauer; godchildren, Rock Kovash, Len Kovash, Brenda Fong, and Craig Kovash; and brothers-in-law, Richard and Bennie Privratsky, Ron and Kay Privratsky and Tim and DeRae Privratsky; and numerous nieces and nephew.

Albert is proceeded in death by his parents, Peter and Mary Kovash; sisters, Martha (Ludwig) Karsky, Mary (Herman) Dukart; brothers, Ray (Blanche) Kovash, Henry Kovash, Wilfred (Georgia) Kovash, Ron Kovash; son, Baby Boy Kovash; grandchildren, Matthew Kovash; parents-in-law, Pete and Rose Privratsky; sister and brother-in-law, Jerome and Lorraine Dukart.
