Alfred Solberg
Alfred M. Solberg, 96, of Moorhead, passed away Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at Eventide on 8th in Moorhead. Al was born March 1, 1925, in Glover, North Dakota, to John and Mathilda (Berget) Solberg. The youngest of seven children, the family lived in Glover before moving to Carrington where Al graduated from high school. Following high school, he served the U.S. Army until returning home in 1946. He then continued his education at Dakota Business College. Al married Lucille Mooridian on Oct. 9, 1949. Together they made their home in Fargo and started a family. Al dedicated much of his time as part owner of Edling Electric, retiring in 1978. Over the years, he enjoyed staying active and supporting the Fargo/Moorhead communities. He was a member of the American Legion for over 75 years, SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) and Kiwanis. Al also enjoyed spending time outdoors, yardwork and golf, fishing and puzzles. He will be remembered for his patience, the respect he had for others and the love he had for family.
Al is survived by his wife, Lucille; children, Marsha (Grant) Weyland of Moorhead and Wayne (Becky) Solberg of Bismarck; grandchildren, Sara Weyland Ford and Ryan Solberg; and great-grandchilden, Sidney and Ashlee Ford.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret, Ingrid, Melvin, Junes Blok, Roy and Earl.
Memorials will be given to Eventide Foundation-Chaplaincy Fund, Great Plains Food Bank and Dorothy Day Food Pantry.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 19 from 12 to 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fargo.
