GLEN ULLIN - Anna Schantz, 99, Glen Ullin, passed away Sept. 16, 2016, at Marian Manor Health Care Center, Glen Ullin. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. CDT Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Glen Ullin, with the Rev. Jeff Zwack celebrating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. CDT Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a rosary and vigil service being held at 5 p.m. CDT. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Anna Erhart was born Dec. 1, 1916, in rural Glen Ullin, the daughter of Mathis and Johanna (Olheiser) Erhart. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school in the St. Joe area. As a young girl, she spent time working on the farm and assisting area families with housework. She also worked at the grocery store, post office and clothing store.
Anna was fond of her time working in the kitchen making hot lunch for the students of Sacred Heart Catholic School and Glen Ullin Public School. She also cooked for and catered many weddings and parties. Anna was a volunteer for the Senior Citizens and Marian Manor Health Care Center. She enjoyed quilting and embroidery projects. Anna lived in the same home in Glen Ullin for nearly 60 years.
On Sept. 25, 1951, Anna was united in marriage to Christ Schantz at the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck. Christ passed away in 1962. To this union, one daughter, Marjorie, was born.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Marjorie (Gary) Jaeger, Bismarck; her granddaughter, Heather Jaeger, Bismarck; her stepdaughters, Delores Knopik, Little Falls, Minn., and Kathy Kopp, Bismarck; and her sister, Angeline Jablonsky, Dickinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Christ; one stepdaughter, Louayne Haehn; her sisters, Tillie Hoerner, Josephine Frank and Pauline Schaff; and her brothers, Christ, Tony, John and two infant brothers.
