Arthur Helmuth Jose was born June 22, 1923, in Mercer County to John and Annetta (Buchmann) Jose. He was raised and educated northwest of Golden Valley. Art was a member of CC camp in Vermillion, S.D., and inducted into the U.S. Army in 1945, at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis. His company was sent to Fort Ord, Calif., and then overseas during WWII, where he served in the Pacific Theater in Tokyo, Okinawa and Philippines. He received a Unit Citation, Occupation of Japan medal, and Good Conduct medal for his contribution to our country. Art was honorably discharged on June 7, 1946, and returned home and married Martha Pfennig on Dec. 8, 1946, in Golden Valley. They farmed in Golden Valley for two years then moved to Regan, where they farmed until moving to Bismarck in 1953. Art worked for Sweetheart Bakery, which became Interstate Brands, Inc, until his retirement in 1985.

Art was an active member of Bismarck Community Church, where he served as an elder and Deacon. He belonged to the American Legion and was involved in a bowling league. He was a very good bowler and received many bowling trophies over the years. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and music. He loved to sing! He was also the prankster at home and work, and enjoyed pulling pranks and innocent jokes on people. Art was admired and served as an inspirational role model for living a good, clean life.

He is dearly loved and will be missed by his family and good friends.

Art is survived by his wife, Martha, Bismarck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken (Rosanne) and Dennis (Trish), all of Bismarck; his daughter and son-in-law, Julie (Mike) Heid, Mandan; six grandchildren, Jesse, Casey (Miranda), Kenton (Missy), Lindsay (Brad) Brenamen, Kendra (Brian) Hansen and Kellie (Dale) Helm; nine great-grandchildren, Aidan, Alexa, Ainsley, Mya, Tess, Tanner, Rylee, Brady and Tysen; two brothers, Ervin and Elmer; and three sisters, Martha Dittus, Ruth Sanders and Delora Forde.

Art was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Ida Bauer; and his brother, Gilbert.

Dear Martha and family,
We are sad to hear that Art is gone. I always enjoyed his humor and wisdom in the years we attended Bismarck Reformed Church togeter. I especially enjoyed when you, Art and Lindsey played and sang for special music. We are sorry we won't be able to attend the service tomorrow, but know you are all in our heart and prayers.

Sorry to hear about Uncle Art. He was one of my favorite uncles be-
cause of his humor. He always saw the brighter side of life. God Bless you all at this time.

Auntie Martha & family,
I'm so sorry for your loss of Uncle Art
but I also know it's been his wish to pass on for a long time, and that he is in a much better place and now has no more pain. I often think of all the fun we used to have with you guys at grandma's growing up, and later after growing up at your house. The jokes Uncle Art would tell and pranks he'd pull, taking out his teeth and touching his nose with his bottom lip, and his GREAT strudel that he'd make. I still get hungry for them. Nobody can make them the same as he did! I'm sorry I won't be able to be at the services, but we'll be taking Dawn and her family to the plane in Rapid City to fly back to Sacramento on Tuesday. We will continue to keep you in our prayers.
Love always your niece,
Carol Jean (Unrath) Sapp
