Beverly Anderson Obituary

Beverly Anderson

December 20, 1940 - November 9, 2025

Beverly Anderson passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Touchmark in Bismarck.

Beverly Jean Bender was born December 20, 1940, daughter of Edwin and Leontina (Weisz) Bender of Washburn, ND. She was raised in Washburn with her 4 brothers and 1 sister and graduated from Washburn High School in 1958. The family moved to Bismarck in 1959.

Bev married Vern Anderson at the First Lutheran Church in Bismarck in 1960. The family lived in Fargo while Vern attended college, and daughter, Tamela, was born there in 1961. The family relocated to Bismarck and Bev worked at various agencies in the insurance industry over many years. She was gainfully employed well into her 70's. Baby Sean joined the family in 1973. She enjoyed attending the children's school activities and sporting events. Crafting and shopping were important parts of her life; she had exquisite taste in fashion and she simply could not resist the temptation of a well-stocked gift shop anywhere she travelled.

Bev enjoyed great times with her Quota Club members and sorority Beta Sigma Phi sisters. Gardening was important to her and she could often be found on her hand hands and knees at the family home on West Interstate Avenue tending to the plants and "knifing" the weeds. Summer weekends were reserved for the many memorable times at Lake Isabel; feeding the crew, gardening, and supervising lakefront activities. When the kids left home, she focused on projects. A hard worker, no project was too big for Bev to take on and almost finish! When Tammy and family, including four grandchildren, moved back to Bismarck in 1999, her skills as a wonderful cook and holiday coordinator and decorator shone brightly. Time with the grandchildren was special to her. A talented crafter, decades of good times were had with the ladies in the crafting club. Bev was a dedicated member of Charity Lutheran Church in Bismarck and enjoyed the Tuesday morning bible study group for many years.

We are grateful for the staff at Touchmark for their professional care during Mom's last 12 months. Bev was a committed matriarch filled with love and kindness for all. She touched many lives and left a lasting legacy of service and support for her large family and many friends.

Her loving family includes daughter, Tammy (Tim) Bohan of Bismarck; and son, Sean Anderson of Carson City, NV; brothers, Rodney (Diane) Bender of Bismarck and Jack Bender of Kingman, Arizona; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Robert and David Bender; sister, Darlene Rezmer, and her husband, Jim; and special friend for over 25 years, Howard Unterseher.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Bismarck Funeral Home. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bismarck, ND.

Memorials are preferred to Charity Lutheran Church Foundation, and will be collected for presentation by Tammy Bohan at 3826 Downing St., Bismarck, ND 58504.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Bev was a wonderful neighbor to us over the many years she lived on West Interstate Ave. I live across the street and down a few houses still, and when we moved in, I was a teenager and she offered to drop me off at Hughes everyday since she drove right by it on her way to work. She was always so friendly, would come over to visit with my parents if they were outside, and over the years, always a wave as I drove by if she was out front working in her yard. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Tammy and Sean, during this sad time.
