Beverly Delameter Obituary

Beverly Joye Delameter passed away peacefully Jan. 1, 2004, at her home in Temecula, Calif.

Born Oct. 24, 1925, at Bismarck, N.D., she lived in Temecula, Calif., for 20 years. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1943 and was confirmed and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Bismarck. She was the first female to act as a page in the State Legislature.

Her father, Russell A. Young, worked for the Bismarck Tribune. He purchased the Harvey Herald and the family moved to that city. That is where Beverly met her future husband, Lyman M. Delameter. Mr. Delameter had recently been released from active duty with the U.S. Army Air Force. They were married July 28, 1946.

Lt. Delameter was recalled to active duty in December 1950. Mrs. Delameter soon learned what it was like to be married to the military. During her husband's career in the Air Force, she had to set up housekeeping at 11 different Air Bases. She also had the responsibility of taking care of two sons while Mr. Delameter flew combat in Korea and Vietnam. She was a kind and loving mother as well as a wife.

Mrs. Delameter is survived by her husband, Lyman; two sons, Lynn, Rapid City, S.D., and Jay, Temecula; two sisters, Pat Powers, Tucson, Ariz., and Shirley Strandemo, Portland Ore.; and one granddaughter, Jessica Fettig, Rapid City. She also has relatives in the Hettinger area. One of her best friends was a cousin, Blanche Flynn, Bismarck.

Her parents, Russell and Gusta Young, preceded her in death.

The light of a distant Star continues to reach the earth long after the Star is gone. In the same way, the Light and Love Beverly gave will continue to shine in many hearts.

Burial will be held in the Black Hills National Cemetery, near Sturgis, S.D.
