Charles Vettel Obituary
Charles R. Vettel, 78, Bismarck, died Feb. 13, 2003. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Song Community Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Larry Jahnke officiating. Burial will be in Rochester, Minn.
There will be no visitation.
Charles Raymond Vettel was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Bismarck, N.D., the son of Charles Elmer and Leo Pearl (Neighbor) Vettel. He was raised and educated in Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1942. He married Marion Kocourek on July 8, 1945, in Bismarck. After their marriage they moved to Bozeman, Mont., where he worked for Nash Finch Co. They returned to Bismarck in 1952, and he worked for Greengards Clothing and A.W. Lucas Department Store.
He married Marion Spinarski in 1974. In 1982 they moved to Rochester, Minn., where he worked for Hanny's Clothing Store. Charles was a No. 1 salesman who knew fabrics and quality of goods.
He was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. He enjoyed bird watching and stamp collecting. Charles was a test grower for over 100 varieties of roses for Jacksons-Perkins Co. He was a lifetime member of the Bismarck-Mandan Elks Club.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Linda (Shipley) Vettel, Beulah; two grandsons and their wives, Brandt and Kari (Knodel) Vettel, Chaska, Minn., and Luke and Shonda (Judd) Vettel, Winston-Salem, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Sierra Elizabeth Vettel, Lauren Marie Vettel and Anthony Charles Vettel; one sister-in-law, Joyce Vettel, Bismarck; several nieces and nephews; and the Hanny's Clothing Store family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant granddaughter, Tasha Marie Vettel; two brothers, Loren Vettel and Jerry Vettel; and two sisters, Theo Hughes and Neva Johnsen. (Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
